Voice over Internet
Protocol (VoIP)
Is
a technology that allows you to make telephone calls using
a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (analog)
phone line.
VoIP
may allow you to call anyone who has a telephone number -
including local, long distance, mobile, and international
numbers.
Some VoIP
services only work over your computer (Softphone)
or a special VoIP phone; other services allow you to use a
traditional phone through an adaptor. A broadband (high speed
Internet) connection is required. This can be provided by
SANTEC
Communications through a Cable Modem, DSL, WiFi
Device or a Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Networks or
VSAT connection.
If you have a broadband internet connection,
you do not need to maintain and pay the additional cost for
a phone line just to make telephone calls. You can use your
computer over the Internet and make phone calls at the same
time and send/receive facsimile transmissions all at the same
time.
It is very important to protect your VoIP
Internet Connection's during power outages by using backup
battery powered devices (UPS) provided by SANTEC
Communications as part of Packaged
Services.
You can talk with many people at
the same time without any additional cost. You can use your
VoIP service wherever you travel as long as you have a high
speed Internet connection available.
